

Maydell L. Ivy, age 81 of Lewisville, passed away on January 26, 2016. She was born on May 6, 1934 in Fannin County Texas, the daughter of Thomas Allen and Lena Chaffin. Maydell married Jesse Ivy on June 25, 1950 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death 2001.
Maydell was raised in Savoy, where she graduated High School and was also an excellent basketball player. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, collecting bird house and tea pots, as well as having tea with her family. She was an excellent seamstress, who made many different dresses for her daughters. Maydell also enjoyed dancing and she and her husband, Jesse loved to do the Jitterbug. Maydell was a dedicated employee who worked as a shift manager for Supercuts for the past 23 years and retired after her 81st birthday. Her greatest joy was the time that she spent with her family, and she will be greatly missed.
Maydell is survived by her daughter Vickie Dale Hoffman and husband Rickey, daughter Debbie Louise Ligo and husband Tim, daughter Jessye Ren'e Hopkins and husband Greg, and son Shannon D'Wayne Ivy; grandchildren Adonia Christelle Deice, Craig Bronson Deice and wife Christy, Johnathan Craig Ligo and wife Stacey, Christopher Ryan Ligo, Kirk Cameron Ivy and girlfriend Kim, Joshua Lance Ivy and wife Madison, Natasha Maedelle Ivy Sutton and husband Shane, Tiffany La'Nae Ivy and husband Josh Richmond, Nakoah Lane Ivy; great grandchildren Colby Ryan Roark, Calli Christelle Roark, Bronson Cole Deice, Hayley Marie Ligo, Blake Christian Deice, Brylee Noel Deice, Konner D'Wayne Ivy, Hannah Brielle Richmond, Emma Grace Ligo, as well as many nieces and nephews. Maydell was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse, two brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 31 from 4-6 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 1 at 2PM, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Middlebrooks officiating. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
