She graduated from Adamson High School in May 1975. Melinda began her career in banking where she retired from in 2014. She enjoyed fishing, collecting various knickknacks, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
Melinda was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend she was known for her love kind gestures, generous, hugs and kind spirits. She cherish lifelong friendships treasured time with family and making people smile.
Melinda was proceeded in death by her husband, Glen Stafford Barlow, her parents, Virginia Manning and Milton Purdy and her brother; Shane Justin Purdy
She is survived by her son James Whitehorn II, of Winnsboro, Texas her daughter, Mandy LaGarce, (Steve)of Midlothian, Texas, her two grandchildren, Shelby Velasquez (Damien), James Whitehorn III, two great-grandchildren, Kinsley Velasquez, and Hannah Whitehorn. She is also survived by countless cousins
