Mildred Elizabeth Thomas Edwards, was born May 8, 1920 in Sulphur Springs, TX. and passed away at the age of 89 on February 22, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. She was a Methodist and received her BA from North Texas State Womens College and her Masters from East Texas State Teachers College. She was also a longtime member of Lakewood Country Club, the Sleepy Hollow Sewing Club and the Lakewood Book Club. She was a member and officer of the DAR and the Park Cities Rotary Anns. Her career began as a classroom teacher at Rungie, TX ISD and taught Home Economics at Sulphur Springs High School until 1956. Classroom teacher at Sam Houston Elementary School DISD until 1990 when she retired. She was a wonderful caring Mother loved teaching school and cooking dinners for her family. She had many friends and loved to entertain. Preceded in death by her husband William Rowland Edwards, Sr. and her daughter, Harriet Lynn Edwards Carrabba. Survived by he son, William Rowland Edwards, Jr.; daughter, Katherine Lee Edwards Dow; sisters, Hazel Stockard and Hattie Glover; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Rev. Bill Smith,officiating.
