Mildred Ann Nabors passed peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on December 31, 1934, in Marquez, Texas, to Elmer and Irene Newsom. Mildred was raised in Marquez, where she graduated from Marquez High School in 1952. She married her beloved husband, Troy Nabors, in 1953, and together they built a beautiful life and raised three cherished daughters in Dallas, Texas.
Mildred devoted more than 30 years to the accounting department at Sears, where she was admired for her strong work ethic, her gentle kindness, and her unwavering commitment to helping others. Some of her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being with them, watching them grow, and celebrating each of their special moments.
She loved returning to her hometown and rocking on the front porch. Mildred was also an avid sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys, but her heart belonged to her Dallas Mavericks, especially Dirk and Luka, whom she absolutely adored. She had a true passion for gardening and nurtured some of the most beautiful flower beds you could find. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed working puzzles.
To know her was truly to love her. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcomed, cared for, and important. Whether she was part of your life for a single moment or for many years, she left a lasting impression of kindness, strength, and warmth that will never fade. Mildred lived a long and beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and the simple moments that meant everything to her. She was the heart of her family, the steady and loving presence everyone leaned on. Her legacy lives on in the quiet lessons she taught us: to love without conditions, to be gentle even during the hardest days, and to cherish every moment we are blessed with. Her love shaped us, and it will continue to guide us always.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Troy Nabors; her granddaughter, Ginger Born; her parents, Elmer and Irene Newsom; and her brother, Pete Newsom.
She leaves behind a family who adored her: her children, Beverly Nabors and husband Wayne, Sherry Atchison, and Laura Douglas; and her grandchildren, Charles Atchison and wife Jerelyn, Dawn Hunsaker and husband Cody, Troy Douglas and wife Mandy, Carl Douglas, Jana Golden and husband Freddy, Shaunda Hooker, Eric Hooker and wife Angela. Her great-grandchildren Tristan, Allison, Gus, Colton, Carlee, Corbin, Kolby, Luke, Easton, Shaylin, Hunter, Breanna, Aaron, Brooke, Jayna, Jesse, Georgia, James, Regan; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends who loved her dearly.
