

Myron I. (Mike) Weinstein, retired Deputy Director of the United States Secret Service, died on Friday, November 24, 2023, after a short illness. He was 93 years old.
Mike was appointed Deputy Director in 1978, and served in that position for four and a half years. He began his career with the Secret Service in 1955 as a special agent assigned to the Chicago Field Office. Subsequent career assignments included Special Agent in Charge of the Syracuse, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia field offices, Assistant Director for the Office of Inspection, and Assistant Director for Protective Intelligence. His honors included the Albert Gallatin, Exceptional Service, Senior Executive and Alexander Hamilton Awards from the U.S. Treasury Department.
He retired as Deputy Director of the Secret Service in September, 1982, following a career that lasted more than 27 years. After retirement, he and his family moved to Dallas where he started a second career as a Vice President of Texas Instruments that lasted 13 years, retiring in 1995.
The son of Louis and Augusta (Cohen) Weinstein, he was born on March 7, 1930 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was predeceased by his brother, Arnold.
He graduated from Michigan State University in 1952 with a B.S. degree in Police Science. After graduation, Mike served in the U.S. Army - Military Police, 1st Lt., 1952-1954, Korean Service.
While at Michigan State University, Mike met his future wife, Barbara M. Wendt, who also graduated in 1952. Married in 1953, they enjoyed a loving marriage, partnership and friendship that lasted over 70 years. At the time of his death, Mike was surrounded by his wife and children.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, and children Steven, Daniel (Martha) and Lynn, and grandchildren, Anna Littleton, David, Stephen (Amanda), Matthew and Rachel Weinstein. He will be buried on Friday, December 15, 10:30 am at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
