Myrtis Elizabeth Christian was born on August 30, 1924, in Donie, Texas, to H.O. Christian and Lillie Armendia Jolly Christian. Myrtis was a graduate of Kirvin High School where she was class Salutatorian and Captain of the volleyball team. She moved to Dallas in 1945 to begin employment with Sears, Roebuck & Co. As fate would have it, while playing softball on May 29, 1947, she met Lacy Eubanks, and they were married the following year on May 29, 1948. They celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Lacy’s homegoing on December 22, 1998. Myrtis and Lacy traveled extensively across the U.S. and abroad. She loved adventure and often said her bags were packed just in case someone said, “Go!” Myrtis retired from Sears in 1992 with 47 years of service.
Myrtis is preceded in death by her parents - H.O. and Lillie Christian; her husband – Lacy Eubanks; and, six brothers – Earle Christian, Lester Christian, Leslie Christian, Arvin Christian, A.B. Christian and O.D. Christian.
She is survived by her two children – Lynn Eubanks and wife, Patricia; Joan Montgomery and husband, Mark. She is also survived by four granddaughters – Crystal Eubanks and husband Christiaan Adams, Michelle Montgomery, Leslie Heggen and husband A.J., and Lauren Bogh and husband Brandon; and two great-grandsons – Tucker Heggen and Sebastiaan Adams.
Myrtis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and friendship to family and friends who knew her best. Her faith was strong, as she continued to grow in her faith as she aged, and she knew it was by God’s grace and for His glory that she lived a fulfilled 92 years.
We offer a special thank you to the Envoy Hospice team who diligently and faithfully assisted Mom on her journey to heaven.
