Myrtle Thomas Moss

M. T. “Ricki” Moss was born in Liberty, Oklahoma to Frank Eldridge Ricks and Ida Mae Walton Ricks on June 4, 1926. She passed peacefully to live with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2020.

Ricki graduated from Yuba High School in Yuba Oklahoma in 1944 as class salutatorian and entered nurses training at Oklahoma Baptist Hospital in Muskogee in 1945. In 1948 she graduated as a registered nurse and moved to Dallas, Texas. In August 1949 she married Jack P. Moss. She worked in several hospitals in Dallas, Texas until the family moved to Abilene, Texas in 1955. She worked at Midland Memorial Hospital and later worked as a Private Duty Nurse for We Care Nursing Service until she retired in 1988. During the summers she served as camp nurse at the Blue Haven Youth Camp near Las Vegas, NM.

Ricki is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack P. Moss. They were blessed with three sons: Stephen Paul Moss (deceased) and wife Kathy (Moss) Peterson of Garland, Texas; Randall Phillip Moss and wife Kathy of Lakeland, Tennessee and James Edward Moss of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jennifer Sananikone and her husband Amphone of Plano, Texas; Shelly Oliver of Garland, Texas; Matt Moss and wife Laura of Dallas, Texas; Adonnica Moss Perry and Richard Moss both of Minnetonka, Minnesota. She had eleven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She also has three step grand-daughters, all of Portland, Oregon: Melissa Weatherby, Mandy Mills, Ashley Mayner and eight step great grandchildren. Ricki also had four siblings: Kathryn Blankenship (deceased) of Denison, Texas; Dorcie Eldridge Ricks (deceased) of Dallas, Texas; William Thomas Ricks also of Dallas, Texas and Jayne Lundell of Red Rock, Texas.

She was active in church wherever she lived and really enjoyed assisting in the cradle roll classes at Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. Ricki was kindhearted and a servant to all.
