

Nasaria Vela Padilla was born October 29, 1926 in Martindale, Texas to Mercedes Gonzales Vela and Pedro Vela. She was the middle of three children. Her siblings were Carmen Vela Contreras and Ramon Gonzales Vela. Nasaria's family moved to Dallas in 1927 to find a better life. Nasaria attended St. Anne's Catholic School as well as Cumberland Hill School. After graduating from Crozier Tech High School, she went on to college at the University of Nebraska and St. Louis University. In 1952, she began a fulfilling career in electronics at General Electric in the Calibration Lab in Dallas. She retired in 1987. A lifelong Catholic, Nasaria was a faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Dallas. She participated in several organizations including the Women's Guild, the Altar Society, the Guadalupanas, the Cursillo movement and the Catholic Daughters. Quilting with friends and preparing all the sock monkeys for the annual church carnival were two of Nasaria's favorite hobbies. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Tony N. Padilla for 62 years, they raised their only daughter, Ramona Vela Padilla a resident of Austin, Texas. Together they volunteered at church and visited grandparents each week and attended family fun activities such as bingo, church dances, picnics at White Rock Lake and planning for the annual church carnival. Nasaria is survived by her husband, Tony and daughter, Ramona and husband Ralph Menillo. She is also survived by the loves of her life her three grandsons, Kareem Hajjar and wife Melissa, Azim and Salim Hajjar; sisters-in-law, Mary Padilla, Margaret Padilla Luna, Frances Padilla Ramon and husband, Rudy. In addition, numerous cousins, nephew and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Mercedes Vela and her siblings Carmen Vela Contreras and Ramon Vela. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday August 6, 2013 with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated by Father Tim Gollob on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 10:00 am at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.A luncheon reception will be held after the grave side services at Calvary Hill Funeral Home.
