Nelida Eusebia Maqueira

Nelida Eusebia Maqueira, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Minco, Oklahoma. She was born in Barrio Rio Blanco de este Termino, Consolacion del Norte, Cuba on August 14, 1935 to Severino Cruz and Amada Acosta. Nelida was raised in La Palma, Pinar Del Rio Cuba and graduated from the Escuela Normal para Maestros de La Habana in 1960. She married her best friend Remberto Maqueira on April 20 1965 and the couple had a son.

Nelida was a teacher in Cuba till her son Remberto Maqueira Jr. was born in December 1965. In December of 1971 Nelida and her husband and son immigrated to the United States with the clothes on their backs arriving in Florida. Eight months later they moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for 47 years. She was employed at Pearl Optical making contacts lenses for more than 25 years. Nelida and Remberto moved to Oklahoma in 2019 to live with their son.

Nelida was an incredible mother and wife and enjoyed baking cakes, making desserts, cooking, coloring, playing games, going to the casino, traveling with friends, shopping and getting together with friends and family. She was always ready to get out of the house. Her family and friends will always remember her contagious laugh and her amazing hospitality and generosity. She always had so many friends that would bring them food and she always made sure to never return a container back empty.

Nelida is survived by her husband Remberto; their son Remberto Jr.; brother Oreste; grandchildren David, Noah, Seth, Faith and Hannah. She is preceded in death by her Father Severino Cruz Enriquez and mother Amada Acosta Acosta, and brothers Evelio, Marcial, Carlito, Facundo, Jose Miguel and sisters Lilia Rosa and Maria Louisa.

There will be a visitation with the family on Friday January 21 from 4:00-8:00PM and the funeral will be held Saturday January 22 at 10:00AM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220. Nació en Barrio Río Blanco de este Término, Consolación del Norte, Cuba el 14 de agosto de 1935 de Severino Cruz y Amada Acosta. Se casó con su mejor amigo Remberto Maqueira el 20 de abril de 1965 y la pareja tuvo un hijo.

Nelida fue maestra en Cuba hasta que nació su hijo Remberto Maqueira Jr. en diciembre de 1965. En diciembre de 1971 Nelida y su esposo e hijo emigraron a los Estados Unidos con la ropa puesta llegando a Florida. Ocho meses después se mudaron a Dallas, Texas, donde vivieron durante 47 años. Trabajó en Pearl Optical fabricando lentes de contacto durante más de 25 años. Nelida y Remberto se mudaron a Oklahoma en 2019 para vivir con su hijo.

Nélida era una madre y esposa increíble y disfrutaba hornear pasteles, hacer postres, cocinar, colorear, jugar, ir al casino, viajar con amigos, ir de compras y reunirse con amigos y familiares. Siempre estaba lista para salir de casa. Su familia y amigos siempre recordarán su risa contagiosa y su increíble hospitalidad y generosidad. Siempre tenía tantos amigos que les traían comida y siempre se aseguraba de nunca devolver un recipiente vacío.

A Nélida le sobreviven su esposo Remberto; su hijo Remberto Jr.; hermano Oreste; nietos David, Noah, Seth, Faith y Hannah. Le precedieron en la muerte su padre Severino Cruz Enríquez y su madre Amada Acosta Acosta, y los hermanos Evelio, Marcial, Carlito, Facundo, José Miguel y las hermanas Lilia Rosa y María Luisa.

Habrá un velorio con la familia el viernes 21 de enero de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. y el funeral se llevará a cabo el sábado 22 de enero a las 10:00 a. m. en Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220.
