

Norma Jean Hanrahan, 86, passed away on July 12, 2025 in Richardson, Texas. She was born on October 10, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Guy and Jean Houston. She was raised in Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1955. She married James Hanrahan in 1993 and the couple had one child. She was an administrative assistant at Deloitte and Touche for over 20 years. Norma found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
She loved vacationing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the lively charm of Branson, Missouri, and the tropical beauty of Hawaii. Norma was very gifted with her hands, she spent countless hours sewing, knitting baby blankets, and creating intricate needlework pieces that her loved ones will treasure forever.
Above all, Norma was a devoted mother and grandmother. She especially cherished her role as caregiver to her handicapped grandson, Jeremy Don. Her family and friends will always remember her as a sassy, funny, loving and caring person. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Jean Houston; husband, James Hanrahan; brother, Buddy Jack Houston and grandson, Jeremy Don Spence.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Yvonne Bratton; son, Don Everett Spence, Jr; daughter, Symphony Gayle Hanrahan; brothers, James Houston and Robert Houston; sister, Marilyn Brummett, several nieces and nephews; granddaughter, Lavender Jean Thomas; three great grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Norma will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
