

Onita was born in Dodge, Texas on May 2, 1929, to the parents of General and Queenie Gamble. She was the seventh child of seventeen children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She worked at the Ambassador Hotel and Stanley Hilton Hotel in Downtown Dallas; she was an Eastern Star until her health failed.
Onita gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Independent Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the founding Pastor Lipscomb. She moved her membership to Freeman Chapel Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Wiley, where she was one of the oldest members and the mother of the church.
Onita is preceded in death by her husband's James Thomas and Johnny Lloyd Styles; parents, General and Queenie Gamble; son, Eddie Gamble; 2 grandchildren, Jerome Thomas and David Clemons III; 1 great-grandchild and 2 son-in-laws, Roylee Sears and MacAuthor Lynch.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, 5 children, David (Brenda) Gamble, Edna Lynch, James Thomas, Wilbur Thomas and Gertie Sears; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
