

Otto William Hirsch, age 94 of Dallas, passed away on March 28, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 25, 1921 in Hufsmith, Texas, the son of John Wilhelm Hirsch and Anna Louise Weirich. Otto married Ruth Elenor Dunning on June 22, 1945 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Otto is survived by his children David Hirsch and wife Beverly of Dallas, James Hirsch and wife Karen of Forney, and Elenor Mason and husband Porter of Royse City; grandchildren Jennifer Hirsch of Dallas, Chelsea Conrad and husband Josh of Forney, Timothy Rhys, Jr. and Erika Gaunt of Heartland, Shannon Aycock and husband Mike of Austin, Lauren Mason and fiancée Zachary Lamp of Dallas, and Kelli Mason of Dallas; great grandchildren Kaleb, Azaret, Will, Emmy, and Jack; and nephew Dr. Bubba Hirsch of Trinity. Otto was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dora Holt, Rose Edgar, and Fred Hirsch.
Otto proudly served his county as an aviation mechanic in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he worked for Greyhound before moving to GMC in Dallas, where he retired after 23 years of service. Otto was also known and trusted by many as their Master Handyman, skilled in various trades and able to solve many problems. In his spare time, Otto was an avid traveler and outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips with his camping club. He was also a proud member, Elder, and trustee for Trinity Lutheran Church, and later at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2PM at Bethel Lutheran Church, 11211 E Northwest Hwy., Dallas. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the White Rock Center of Hope.
