She was born on Jan. 22, 1927 in Columbus, GA. to Brelon and Hazel Grantham. She was the oldest child of three children. Pat was loved by her younger brother Corky, now deceased and her younger sister Judy, still living. She grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi where she went to high school and was a cheerleader and later moved to Jackson, MS. She attended Louisiana State University after high school and met her husband, Donnie Guion while at home in Jackson, MS. She was a lovely lady with a sweet disposition and a people person with many friendships.
Pat and Donnie had 3 children during their marriage of 37 years; Don, Kathy and Amy. They lived in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas where Pat was involved in starting Faith Bible Church with a group of friends they affectionately called “the Daffy’s”. They later moved to North Dallas to finish raising their children and got involved with Fellowship Bible Church. She was active in a minichurch where she developed many good friends. These friends were a very stable support for Pat when she lost her husband, Donnie when she was only 59 yrs. old.
Pat has lived alone as a widow for nearly 30 years as she never desired to be married again. Many men would have loved the chance to marry her but she was never interested. Her first love was enough to last a lifetime. She remained active with her church, her friends and her children for many years until she began to experience the effects of Alzheimer’s. It progressed to where she couldn’t live at home anymore by herself so she moved to a retirement community and then moved to other assisted living facilities to get proper care as the disease progressed. Through it all, Pat remained just as sweet as she always had been. She had a delightful outlook on life, even with the way things turned out; a model of grace and joy. Her life was full of gratitude and her favorite saying, even to the end, was “this is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it”!
Pat is survived by her younger sister, Judy Allen; her three children; Don Guion, Kathy Luallen and Amy Reppert; her daughter in law, Christie Guion and two son in laws, Andy Luallen and Mike Reppert; her grandchildren, Gary Guion, David Guion; Amanda Wiles, Travis Luallen; Kyle Reppert, Heather DeGraffenreid, Cody Reppert; her great grandchildren, Grant Wiles, David Wiles, Ford Guion, Caden DeGraffenreid, Henry Guion and Graham Guion. Her life was full of joy and love with all her family. She will be missed but never forgotten.
