She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on January 17, 1955. Patty graduated from Chapel Hill High School and received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
She was married to Edward Hanker on August 20, 1978.
Patty had a career in general education, Jewish education, and the pharmaceutical industry for Solomon Schechter Academy in New London, CT; Beth El religious school in Durham, NC; and Pfizer.
She was a volunteer Girl Scouts troop leader, and had a passion for reading, travel, figure skating, and women’s basketball.
She was preceded in death by husband Edward Hanker.
She is survived by daughter, Ariella Hanker, grandchildren Yakira, Sarit, and Natan Klirs, and sister Debby Ethridge.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Shearith Israel in the Beck Family Sanctuary, followed by interment at Shearith Israel Memorial Park on Dolphin Road.
