Ray went to Kaufman High School, served in the United States Army and became a butcher and managed the meat department for several grocery chains throughout the Dallas area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and singing country western music, he was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Ray is survived by; daughters, Gayle and Glenda; grandchildren, Armon, Adriel and Brandon and great-grandchildren, Emma and Adileah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Hampton; parents, William Plummer and Dora Hampton; daughter, Beverly Hampton Adibi and siblings, Francis, Mary Lou, Nell, Stella and Shirley.
A visitation for Ray will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, The funeral service will occur Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel. A committal service will follow the service at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
