Rafael Santanna Esquivel

Rafael Santanna Esquivel, was born August 31, 1937 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Rafael Esquivel Sr. and the late Antonia (Santanna) Esquivel. Rafael went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. He was raised in Ft. Worth, moved with his family to Chicago for a short time then permanently moved to Dallas, Texas. Rafael attended St. Ann’s school, was raised Catholic & was an altar boy in his church. At the age of 19 he enlisted into the U.S. Army from June 18, 1956 – June 17, 1958 where he studied and learned diesel mechanics. In 1956 Rafael met Neomi Rico and were married September 5th, 1956, they completed 60 years of marriage this year. They have 5 children, Mary (Connie) Hernandez (husband Salvador), Lora Chavez (husband Jose), Rafael R. Esquivel III, Barbara Barton (husband Elbert), Lee A. Esquivel (wife Beth), 10 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.

Rafael went into the field of diesel mechanics, and eventually became shop supervisor for 30 years, owned his own rental properties and dump trucking business. He retired in 1997 and enjoy 19 years with Neomi (the love of his life) and their family. Rafael with Neomi attended Centro De Fe church where he grew his faith.

Rafael enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, working on cars & McDonald’s with Neomi (their favorite place).

Services will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17 from 10AM - 4PM and Sunday, December 18 from 5PM - 8PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 19 at 12PM, with the committal to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
