Rafael Hernandez, beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa passed to his eternal life, but he will live in our hearts forever. He was born October 24, 1927 in Farmers Branch, Texas and was called home to his Savior May 5, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He served in the Merchant Marines and traveled to over 13 countries, Rafael also enjoyed 38 years of employment with E-Systems. He is preceded in death by his sons, Rafael Hernandez, Jr. and Carmen Hernandez. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Adela Hernandez; daughter, Mary Ann Broadhurst and son-in-law John Aubie Broadhurst; grandchildren, Tonya Broadhurst Russell, Monica Broadhurst and Bridget Hernandez. His pride and joy were his great grandchildren, Christian, Grayson, Faith, Eric, Lacy and Asanta. Visitation and viewing will begin at 2:30 pm Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:00 pm Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2011 in the North Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Carmen “Corky Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, John Anthony Hernandez, John Broadhurst, Johnny Mendoza, Carmen Mendoza, Cody Armstrong and Brian Marquez.
