Rene Orlando Martinez passed peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by love—with his daughter, his brother, and his best friend faithfully by his side. He left this world the same way he lived in it: quietly strong and deeply loved.
Rene was born to Alfred and Anita Martinez and grew up in a family rooted in love, loyalty, and a strong work ethic. As the baby of the family, he shared a lifetime of memories with his brothers, Al and Steve Martinez, and his sister, Priscilla Fernandez. He was especially proud—beyond measure—of his only favorite daughter, Stefani “Nikki” Martinez-Foster.
If you knew Rene, you knew a few things for sure: he loved his guitars, his golf, his morning breakfast at Lucky's Diner, and his dogs.
He also found peace at Lake Bob Sandlin, where he loved to slow down and escape to the quiet. It was one of his favorite places, which allowed him an escape from the busy city life.
For most of his life, Rene dedicated himself to his family’s restaurant, El Fenix, where he worked with pride, consistency, and heart. Many knew him not only for his work ethic, but for his quiet humor, kind spirit, and charm.
When he wasn’t working, Rene could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the challenge of the game—sometimes more enthusiastic than successful, but always determined. He loved the time with his buddies, the fresh air, and the occasional great shot that he would casually mention…more than once.
Rene is survived by his daughter, Stefani Foster, her husband Kris, and his two treasured grandsons, Kale (11) and Knox (3). He is also survived by his mother, Anita N. Martinez, his brothers and sister, Al, Steve, and Priscilla, and his niece, Ana Palacios, and nephew, Luis Fernandez.
Rene had a gentle way about him. He didn’t seek attention, but he earned respect. He didn’t need to be loud to be heard. His love showed up in steady ways for his people—in listening and being there when it mattered most.
He had a sense of humor, a charming smile, and a knack for making people feel better when they left him. He loved deeply, worked hard, and always stayed true to himself.
Rene’s life was a beautiful melody—made up of family, Rock & Roll, friendship, laughter, and love. Though his song on this earth has ended, his rhythm lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be forever missed, always remembered, and endlessly loved.
Rest easy, Rene.
Keep playing that guitar.
