

Richard “Dick” Hayden Klein, age 79, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by love.
Dick was born on June 14, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to Scott and Maude Klein. He graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 1964 and went on to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English—a school and education he remained deeply proud of throughout his life.
On June 17, 1967, Dick married Glenna Davies. They were married for 20 years and together raised two daughters, whom he loved dearly.
Dick dedicated his professional life to public service as a parole officer. He was known for his thoughtful nature, his love of reading, a brilliant mind, quick wit, kindness, and his enthusiasm for sports—especially Notre Dame football. His Catholic faith was central to his life. He was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, where he served as a Stephen Minister.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Maude Klein; his brother, Scott Klein; his sister, Kathleen Klein, and his nephew, David Myers.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina Dawe (Scott) and Jennifer Bowling (James); his grandchildren, Zane and Arianna Pramudji, Ruth Ellen, Bella, Jacob, and Chris Bowling; his beloved sister, Madeline Myers, with whom he shares a birthday; his sister-in-law Diana Klein; and his beloved nephews, nieces and loving cousins, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, with Father Bradley officiating. Committal will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are Zane Pramudji, Greg Myers, Jacob Myers, Justin Myers, James Bowling, and Scott Dawe. The eulogy will be delivered by his dear childhood friend, Bruce Hamelin.
The family of Richard Klein wishes to thank all those who loved and cared for him during his final year of infirmity. A special note of gratitude is extended to Greg Myers, Justin Myers, Portia Eaglin, and Ray Henderson, whose compassionate care and presence meant so much in his final months.
