With broken hearts and deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we honor Richard — an adoring husband, devoted father, loving brother, doting papa, loyal friend, and respected businessman.
Richard Allen Moreno, 73; was born to Adolfo and Eva Moreno on February 2, 1953 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1971. In 1972, Richard married the love of his life, Gena on her 18th birthday. Two years later, they welcomed their first child, Tony. Tony was born with a congenital heart defect, and the family endured a devastating loss when he passed away before his third birthday. Their hearts bore the weight of that loss, and in 1980 they were blessed with a baby girl.
To his daughter, he was — her protector, her teacher, her steady voice of reason, and her safe place in any storm. He was her first hero, her first love — the man who showed her how to be strong, how to be kind, and how to stand tall with integrity. His love was unwavering, constant, and unconditional.
Richard loved gathering with his family to celebrate any holiday, Sunday breakfasts with siblings and their families at his mom’s with her homemade tortillas. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his best friends, sharing stories filled with laughter and brotherhood. These moments are where he felt most alive, surrounded by the people and places he loved.
He was also a proud steward of his family’s legacy. Richard owned and operated Moreno Printing Service, the print shop his father established in 1968, later purchasing it himself in 1989. That shop was more than a business — it was a testament to hard work, dedication, and family pride. Through decades of service, he built lasting relationships with cherished clients and trusted vendors. To many, he wasn’t just a business owner; he was a friend, a steady presence, and a man of his word.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Eugena Moreno; his son, Anthony Moreno; his parents, Adolfo and Eva Moreno; his sister, Eva Moreno; and his brother, Steven Moreno and brother-in-law, Eddie Day. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Samuel Platter; his cherished granddaughters and their husbands, Shelby and Jaleel Clemon, Bayleigh and Jackson Vogel, and Brooklyn and Braxton Feemster; his grandson and little best friend, Anthony Platter; his brother and sister-in-law, Adolfo and Diane Moreno; his sister, Sandra Day; and his great-grandchildren, Kenlee Clemon, Jhett Clemon, Ryker Clemon, and Josephine Vogel.
Richard carried a quiet strength. He believed in showing up, working hard, and treating people with respect. His handshake meant something. His word meant something. And his love meant everything. Though we ache in his absence, we are forever grateful for the legacy he leaves behind — in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, the business he faithfully carried on, and the memories that will live in our hearts forever.
Daddy, you will always be my hero. Thank you for loving me the way you did.
