The only child of German immigrants, Strasser was born on February 3, 1943, in Brooklyn, Queens, New York, to Robert and Theresia Strasser. On October 2, 2004, he married Paula K. Strasser in Dallas, Texas. He was a successful military officer and attorney in multiple areas including government, defense and information technology.
Strasser proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He commissioned in the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1965 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). He was a missile launch officer and commander at multiple levels, leading hundreds of airmen around the world, to include cadets at the United States Air Force Academy. Strasser was highly decorated, receiving many medals and awards, and retired in 1985 as a Lieutenant Colonel at Hahn Air Base, Germany.
After military retirement, Strasser earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Dayton School of Law and launched a legal career. He served in multiple capacities as corporate legal council, county auditor council, private practice, and tenured professor for Government Contract Law at the Air Force Institute of Technology. There he authored multiple articles published in Contract Management Magazine. Of significant note, Strasser was sworn in before the United States Supreme Court for admission to practice before that tribunal.
In 1995, Strasser joined Raytheon as a contract attorney, followed by four years with Nortel Networks as legal counsel. He joined Affiliated Computer Services in 2003, acquired by Xerox Corporation, where he was vice president and senior corporate counsel and senior vice president & group counsel managing a team of corporate attorneys and staff.
Strasser, together with his wife, was a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and was an active member of the Chancel Choir. He was also a member of the advisory board for the Center for Brain Health in Dallas, Texas.
In addition to his legal degree, Strasser received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Syracuse University, and a Master of Arts degree in sociology and communications from the University of Northern Colorado.
Strasser is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Theresia Strasser.
Affectionately known as Opa, he is survived by his wife, Paula K. Strasser, his children (mother Ruth Strasser) and his many grandchildren, sons Colonel (retired) Robert A. Strasser and wife, Stephanie, their children, Kayla Bostwick (husband Nicholas), Zachary, Abigail and Joshua; Russell S. Strasser; Richard B. Strasser and wife, Kelly, and his children (mother Heather Strasser), Quincy Stacker (husband Garrett), Emily, Sophie and Molly; and stepson Christopher Hill and wife, Katherine, and their children Charlie and Corban Hill.
The family would like to thank the many friends, caregivers, nurses and hospice care staff who visited with and cared for Bob in his final days. Special thanks to caregivers Connie Minter, Shay Walker and Emmanuel Uduhiri.
Visitation and a celebration of life will take place at Park Cities Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 am and service at 12:30 pm.
