Reverend Robert Eugene Conley peacefully entered into the Lord’s embrace on March 31, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Dallas, Texas, to the esteemed Reverend R.T. Conley and devout Lillie Ruth Conley, he spent his formative years in West Dallas, the eldest son of six siblings.
A graduate in the class of 1972 from L. G. Pinkston High School, Reverend Conley pursued higher learning at Grambling State University, a historically black college and university, where he was an active member of the Tigers football team. He furthered his theological studies at the Lacey Kirk Williams Ministers Institute and earned a certification in Environmental Justice from the University of California, Berkeley.
His passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ and community activism defined Reverend Conley’s life’s work. He was instrumental in developing youth programs in the West Dallas Community, coached numerous little-league football teams, and founded the New Start Program, which prepared offenders for workforce re-entry. In 2000, he began fulfilling his call to ministry, serving under his father’s leadership for many years as the Youth Pastor of New Waverly Baptist Church. His vision culminated in the establishment of the Testament of Praise Church in Dallas, Texas, where he served as Founder and Pastor.
Reverend Conley’s service extended to the Board of Directors for Texas Organizing Project (T.O.P.), where he also served as Chairperson for Irving and Grand Prairie chapters, and the Board of Directors of Skill & Faith Athletes, among other ministries.
He shared 48 years of devoted marriage with his beloved wife, First Lady Millison Conley and they are the proud parents of three children: Dwaylon, Ashley, and Rashad. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Reverend Conley is survived by his sister, Brenda (Doug) Moore of Dallas, Texas, and leaves to cherish his memory many nephews, nieces, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents R. T. Conley and Lillie Ruth Conley; his siblings, Rita (Milton) Conley-Willis, Anthony (Judy) Conley, Allen (Kim) Conley, and Gary Conley and granddaughter Cherwaylon Daniels.
