

Robert Michael Farquhar passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, on October 7, 2017, after a short illness. Mike was born on April 28, 1954, in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science and with a Juris Doctor in 1980 from SMU’s School of Law. Mike joined Winstead, P.C. in 1988. He was board certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and board certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Bankruptcy Institute. Mike was a past president of the Dallas Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section and past head of Winstead’s Business Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice Group. His practice focused on representation of creditors in commercial bankruptcies and out-of-court financial restructurings, and he enjoyed crafting a solution to those complex problems. Mike was recognized numerous times by publications for his work in the areas of bankruptcy and restructuring, including being listed in Texas Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in Texas and Best Lawyers in America. Outside of his practice he loved working on cars, riding his bicycle and his motorcycle, and hunting.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Robert, and is survived by his mother Helen M (“Peggy”), his wife Carol, his children, Stephanie and Andrew, his grandson Quentin, siblings Nancy, Cindi, Frank and Jennifer, and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for the family at Sparkman/Hillcrest.
