

Rosemary Haggar Vaughan was born in Dallas, Texas on December 18, 1926 to Rose and Joseph Marion Haggar, Sr. Rosemary passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023, surrounded by her children. We were blessed by her 96 years and her love will remain forever in our hearts. Faith, Family, Giving, and Education were at her Core and she dedicated her life to these causes.
She was a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church and always believed in the power of prayer. She attended Saint Mary’s College and Southern Methodist University. Rosemary served on the board of directors for the Haggar Apparel Company and was later named the Executive Director of The Haggar Foundation, the charitable arm of her family's clothing business.
Rosemary’s greatest joy, and where she most excelled, was being a mother and grandmother. Countless friends of her children were welcomed into her home where they were warmly embraced and always more than adequately fed. Rosemary always had a kind word to say. Her genuine spirit and warmth touched the hearts of many. Rosemary was always the most gracious hostess. Her kindness and generosity were evident in everything she did. She never knew a stranger. Her heartwarming smile and kind words brightened the day of everyone she met. Rosemary’s sense of style was always on point, she always took great pride in how she looked.
Affectionately known as “Mimi,” she loved being with her family and celebrating any special day or event. She proudly attended every soccer game, baseball game, hockey game, track and cross country meet, equestrian events and music program that she could. A lifelong bridge player, she loved playing board games and card games. She spent countless hours teaching her grandchildren strategies for playing board games and gin rummy.
She was the President of the Rosemary Haggar Vaughan Family Foundation where the focus was on Education, The Arts, Healthcare and many other areas. Rosemary was a strong supporter of education. Her foundation supported the capital campaigns of many Dallas schools, including Ursuline Academy, Jesuit, Cistercian, Lamplighter, St. Marks, ESD, Parish Episcopal School, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Dallas. In honor of her mother, she donated the land for the Rose Haggar Elementary school in the Plano Independent School District. She and her extended family were honored as the family of the year by the Catholic Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
She served on many boards, including SMU Meadows School of the Arts, Northwood University, El Centro College, Dallas Can Academy, Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, Dallas Summer Musicals, Dallas Opera, A Weekend To Wipe Out Cancer and Inwood National Bank.
Civically, she supported Nexus, The Dallas Arboretum, The Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Notre Dame of Dallas School, Sisters of Divine Providence, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and many more.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Rose Mary Wasoff Haggar and Joseph Marion Haggar, Sr.; brother Edmond R. Haggar, Sr. and his wife Patricia Daly Haggar; brother Joseph Marion Haggar, Jr. and his wife Isabell Salloum Haggar.
Rosemary is survived by her five children, William Edmund Vaughan; Mary Lynn Vaughan; Marty Vaughan Rumble and Robert William Rumble, and their children William Graham Rumble, Robert Edmund Rumble, Sydney James Rumble; Vicki Vaughan Miller and her husband Brian Miller and their children Matthew Brian Miller and Rosemary Clare Miller; James Haggar Vaughan and his wife Jessie Vaughan, and their son Aiden James Vaughan and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
The family will be forever grateful for the care extended to Rosemary by her caregivers, Paula Cervantes, Lashan Gilkey, Jane Muhia, Linet Muhia, Mourine Muhia, Winfred Chege and Rachel Muturi.
The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75225. The Mass will also be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Reverend Anthony Lackland - Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to one of the following charities: Christ the King Catholic Church, The Dallas Arboretum, The Dallas Symphony, The Rosemary Haggar Vaughan SMU Meadows Endowed Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
