Born in Dallas, Texas on May 8th, 2001, Samuel came into this world ready to learn, teach, and walk with love. An avid bird-watcher, Sam met the love of his life, Olivia Berggren, studying painted buntings during their time at Austin College in Sherman, TX, where she and Samuel graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in biology in December of 2023. He was a prolific writer and known to keep countless journals and notebooks of anything from poetry to to-do lists. He was always writing, observing, and learning. A compassionate, wise, brilliant, charming, funny, intelligent light has been dimmed, but we, the people in this life whom he touched so deeply with his being, will never let it burn out.
Samuel lost his life to the disease of depression, an illness that affects 280,000,000 people world-wide. If you, or someone you know is a part of that statistic, please know that you are not alone, that help is out there, and that there is hope. You can text or call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988) if you have any thoughts of hurting yourself.
Samuel is survived by parents, Donna and Luis Gonzalez and siblings, Graciela Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, and his wife Andrea Gonzalez, his loving girlfriend Olivia, his Lita, Soccoro Silva, his Grandma, Martha Burleson, his dog Pickles, a loving group of aunts, uncles and cousins, a beautiful extended family and wonderful friends.
