Sam was born in Pensacola Florida to Frank and Ann Liberato August 22, 1941. He attended Pensacola Junior College, was a war time veteran of the United States Air Force and married his lifelong partner Becky Yarborough on January 3, 1969 in Dallas Texas. He was a member of the St Paul’s Men’s Club and Dallas Paleontological Society.
Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather and mentor to not only his children and grandchildren but the children of his siblings, friends and neighbors.
With a vivid imagination and ingenuity, Sam could turn trash in to treasure. As a jack of all trades, he had a knack for finding the right part or coming up with an ingenious solution for every repair. He was the go-to guy when there was something that needed fixing, be it a leaky faucet or a replacing an engine block.
He enjoyed being outdoors, often engaging in activities like boating, water skiing, hiking, canoeing and fishing. An avid fossil hunter, he had a keen eye and collected many pristine specimens, having one of his finds placed on display at the Dallas Museum of Natural History. He had a lifelong love of learning and could be found most evenings reading articles about chemistry, ancient history, biology and the occasional science fiction story.
