

Sammy was, and always will remain in the hearts of a devoted husband of Sylvia Dominguez-Santillan, a loving father to Misty, Aerik and Ariel Santillan. Proud grandfather of Dominique, Haven, Zalee, Aathyleia, Adyres, Kellin and Luca. . Son of Robert and Sarah Santillan (predeceased), brother to Robert H. Santillan (predeceased), Charles, Dean and Yolanda Santillan and cherished by all cousins and friends who he made and met along his 66 years.. His life was filled with joy in celebrating milestones, birthdays, and gatherings at "El Corral" with all who were near and dear to him.
A true Dallas Cowboys fan, win or lose "El Corral" was the place to be many a weekend. Sammy also had a passion for traveling, cooking, and spending time at home. His love for movies and music was one of his favorite pastimes, and he always shared these interests with those around him.
Sammy was the consummate giver—always leading by example and teaching his children and grandchildren that mistakes are simply stepping stones on the journey of growing up. His wisdom and kindness shaped the lives of those he loved.
Though hesitant at first, Sammy embraced traveling the world and experienced some of the best adventures of his life. Each country he visited was forever changed by his presence—a testament to his vibrant spirit.
Sammy’s love for cooking was legendary. From firecrackers, ribs and fried turkeys (annual event at El Corral" to the best brisket and arroz, his culinary creations were personal trademarks. His infamous
"Texas Trash” and candy apples for the kids and grandkids became beloved traditions, eagerly anticipated year after year. These dishes weren't just meals—they were gifts of love shared with family and friends.
Above all, Sammy was a God-fearing man, raised in the Methodist faith alongside his brothers and baby sister—a true testament to the values instilled by his parents. His faith guided him throughout his life, shaping the man who gave so much to others.
Sammy attended Maple Lawn Elementary, where many friendships formed that lasted a lifetime. He graduated early from Skyline High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Sammy also earned a college degree in Computer Science and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. His 20-year career in the USMC as an administrator was marked by honor and pride, and he retired with distinction. His military service inspired his children, who each served their country in the Navy, Army, and Air Force—a source of immense pride for Sammy.
After retiring from the Corps, Sammy continued his professional journey, working with respected companies such as Tandy, Lockheed Martin, and CSC as a data analyst and administrator.
As a devoted husband to Sylvia for 46 years and a cornerstone of his family, Sammy's world revolved around his children, Misty, Aerik, and Ariel. He will be remembered for his lasting legacy as a dedicated companion and a father/grandfather whose love and presence were the heart of the home."
Though Sammy may no longer walk beside us, his love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts. May we find peace in knowing that his spirit lives on in every cherished memory, every family gathering, and every act of kindness inspired by his example.
