

Shelia was born at Florence Nightingale Hospital on August 6, 1944 and grew up
in Arlington, Texas. She graduated from Arlington High School where she was active in the drama and speech club, and baton twirling. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington. She was a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Dallas and later Central Christian Church in Dallas.
Shelia was a life long advocate for animals. She created one of the first Kindness Club chapters in the DFW Metroplex and she was active in the Midland Humane Coalition, Inc. Her current rescue terrier, Penelope, will go home to live with Shelia’s beloved daughter, Danielle.
She enjoyed a long career in the travel industry, including owning her own travel agency in Lewisville, Texas. She was fortunate to travel throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Asia. Her family was lucky to benefit from her knowledge and travel perks. She loved traveling with her grandson Jacob, and granddaughter Natalie.
Shelia was an avid reader and an accomplished writer. Her work appeared in local Dallas papers including Lakewood Bubblelife and The White Rock Lake Advocate. She also published the Vickery Place Newsletter.
She loved cooking and attended culinary classes at El Centro College. She recently published a cookbook that included many of her family favorite recipes. She was the quintessential hostess and enjoyed putting together all types of events. She received many calls from her sisters and daughter seeking protocol advice for entertaining. One of her greatest joys was spending time on the front porch of her historic East Dallas home with her grandchildren.
Shelia enjoyed her time at Central Christian Church and leaves behind many good friends and loving memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Douglas “Buddy” and Gloria Shouse and her son, Gregory Douglas Huffman.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Danielle Dorman and husband Wendell; brother, Neil Shouse and wife Fay, sister Teresa Gwynne and husband Don, sister Anna Brinker and husband Craig; beloved grandchildren Jacob Gregory Rachel, Natalie Christine Rachel, Cole Dorman, Andrew Rachel, and Lauren Rachel Swanson; nephew, Neil Shouse Jr.; and cousin Karen Wagoner.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22, at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas 75228. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
