She was born on November 3, 1934 in Dallas, Texas, to John and Vivian Holcomb.
She attended public school in Dallas before graduating from Baylor University in 1958. She was hired by H.L. Hunt while attending Baylor, and after graduation moved to Houston as she continued her decades long successful career in the oil industry.
In the 1980's, she made a big move to Denver, Colorado, where she continued to advance her career in a male dominated field and built a beautiful life in Denver with a wonderful community of friends. She eventually even became a snowbird by splitting her time between her Denver and Arizona homes.
She loved traveling, whether it was traveling around the world on various cruises with friends or trips to visit her family, she was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and artifacts from her travels to share with her family and friends. She was a lifelong avid reader, loved to play bridge or other card games and you'd always find an active puzzle on her table.
In 2019, she returned home by moving to Allen, Texas so she could be near her brother, Steve. The past four years were very special to each of them, strengthening their deep bond and enduring friendship. This time was treasured by both and something our whole family will always be grateful for.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian Holcomb of Wylie, Texas. She is survived by her brother, Steve Holcomb, niece, Wendy Fletcher and her daughters, Fara and Kenna, and niece, Ashley Meece and her husband David and their daughters, Hailey, Lauren, and Audrey.
We will celebrate Shirley's life at a private family gathering this year and always.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Grove-Hill.com for the Holcomb family.
