

Steve Galvan Alvarado passed away unexpectedly on January 15th, 2022. He was born on November 28th, 1932, in the town of Forreston, Texas, to Jose Alvarado and Maria Galvan. At the young age of 17 years, old Steve served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean war veteran. After serving in the U.S. Army, Steve moved to New York, where he later met his wife, Aida Cruz Lopez. They had two children, Rossanne Alvarado Rivera, and David Alvarado. Steve worked at Colonial Steel in Bronx, New York as an Ironworker for 36 years. After his retirement, Steve and Aida moved to Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where they lived for 19 beautiful years. While in Puerto Rico, Steve truly enjoyed his life; you could find him riding the tractor, working on the house, riding his bike, crabbing, gardening, and working on his trucks in the garage. Steve was known for his admirable work ethic, love for his family, and sense of humor. Steve worked willingly, diligently, and creatively with his hands from a young age, and there was not a task or project in which Steve could not complete. Steve was well known for his strength, and integrity when it came to taking care of his family and friends; there wasn’t anyone who knew Steve who could not go to him and ask for help when needed. Steve was an intricate problem solver and role model everyone admired and loved wholeheartedly.
Steve Is predeceased by Aida his loving wife of 57 years and his siblings Virginia Alvarado, Andrew Alvarado, Angelita Alvarado, Benito Alvarado, Maggie Alvarado, Ester Alvarado, and David Alvarado. He is survived by his daughter, Rossanne Alvarado Rivera, and her husband Wilfredo Rivera and their children William Rivera (Catherine Walsh-Rivera) and Rossangelica Rivera (Michael Eysaman) and his great-grandson Liam Rivera. Son: David Alvarado and his children Angela Alvarado-Sparkman (Stephen Sparkman), Lindsey Alvarado and Steven Alvarado. His great-grandchildren Declan, Emmett, Shane Sparkman and his daughter-in-law Cherri Alvarado. Steve is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children.
