Sunie Annette Gorman

“Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints” Ps.116:15. Sunie Annette Gorman entered her eternal home with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 16, 2024. If you knew her, you loved her. She was one of the most godly women on this earth. She was a rock for her husband, Merle, an exceptional mother to 4 children, a wonderful grandmother to 10...and, it goes on & on! She was a beautiful friend and “mama-sister” to her two sisters, and she had friends galore! She lived her faith in Jesus Christ, and was a light in this world. She will be greatly missed.

Sunie was born on January 23, 1935 to Bill & Ann McCauley. The family lived in Dallas “Oak Cliff”, Texas. She went to Sunset High School and married her high-school sweetheart, Merle Gorman, in 1952 at her home. They began their life together. Sunie was a wife and mother for many years, but went to work with her husband at the Dallas Apparel Mart for 14 years in 1976. They were a great team! He sold the clothes, and she added the orders! She retired in 1990.

In 1972 Merle and Sunie became part of the “Family of God”, when they received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Life took a major turn. Sunie became involved in church, Bible Studies and reaching the lost for Christ. She especially loved beautiful Christian music and surrounded herself with it continually. This new life blessed them with many wonderful friends, as they grew in God’s Word at Faith Bible Church in Desoto, TX and then at Grace Church of Ovilla, Ovilla,TX.

Sunie is survived by her husband Merle and 3 Children and their mates: Gene Gorman and wife Esther, Jill Cowan and husband Dick, Gayle Bowers and husband Blaine, and Claudia Gorman. Ten grandchildren: Preston Gene Gorman, Ross Gorman, Clint Gorman and wife Shemsia, Katie Taylor and husband Michael, Corley Cowan and wife Audrea, Kyle Cowan and wife Tristin, Caycie Williams, Calvin Williams, Gregory Preston Gorman and wife Kayla, and Johanna Gorman. Great-Grandchildren: Kennedy, Kason, McCauley, Dylan, Dixon, Bennett, Jack, Henry, Charles, and a new Gorman baby girl “on the way”. Two sisters: Patsy Roberts and husband Craig and Mimi Vancil and husband Paul.

Sunie is preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Ann McCauley, her brother, Bill McCauley and wife Sally, and her beloved son, Gregory Preston Gorman. We cannot even imagine the reunion they shared!

Sunie will be in repose and available for viewing from 3-7 on Friday, August 30th at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 S.R.L Thornton Fwy., Dallas, TX. There will be no formal visitation. Her Celebration Service will be held at Grace Church of Ovilla, 519 Westmoreland, Ovilla, TX on Saturday, August 31st at 1:30
