

Susan Ellen Ehrenberger Crawford was born October 24, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Josef Ehrenberger and Ardis Joyce Adams. She died July 3, 2011, in Dallas. Susan attended Dallas Public Schools and graduated from Huntsville High School, Huntsville, Alabama. After graduation from Southern Methodist University, she trained as a respiratory therapist and worked at Dallas Children's Hospital, Denver Children's Hospital, and Baylor Hospital, Dallas. She returned to school to earn a Master's Degree in Psychology from University of Texas, Dallas and later a Master of Counseling from Amber University. Susan was a member of the Mensa Society and the American Sokol Organization. She was a special education teacher for the Richardson School District until she was disabled by her long, courageous fight against breast cancer. She married James Crawford April 16, 1983, in Dallas. In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by her parents, Joe and Joyce Ehrenberger of Dallas; one sister, Julie (David) Harris of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, Joseph Ehrenberger (Kate) of Baltimore, MD and Michael Ehrenberger (Celeste) of Plano, TX; two stepchildren, Jay (Allison Crawford) of Sugarland, TX and Kristy Crawford of Dallas, TX; three stepgrandchildren; nieces, Kristen Ehrenberger (Michael Hammer) of Champaign, IL, and Evelyn Harris of Pittsburgh, PA; nephews, David Ehrenberger (Brittany) of MD, Nathan Ehrenberger of Ft. Knox, KY, and Will Harris of Pittsburgh, PA, as well as many extended family members and friends.
There will be a private family Graveside Service. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life has been planned for Saturday, 10:00 a.m., August 13, 2011, at Lake Highlands Baptist Church - 642 Brookhurst Dr., Dallas, TX 75218. Memorials may be made to the Susan Komen Organization or the American Cancer Society.
