Thelma Lois Watson, aged 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Thelma was born on August 20, 1933, in Willis, Oklahoma, where she spent her early years. She later moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area where she attended Arlington Heights High School in Forth Worth . Thelma worked at Texas Electric in Fort Worth for several years then studied and obtained her real estate license. She became a Real Estate Agent and worked in the Dallas market.
While still in Fort Worth she met the love of her life Marvin K. Watson, and they were eventually married on March 15, 1951. They had a beautiful long robust marriage of 62 years. They proceeded to have three children, Dolores, Brenda and Pam.
More than anything, Thelma was a devoted Mother and MiMi. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and especially the greats. Some of the fondest memories come from the family gatherings at the lake. She loved to have everyone out on holiday weekends for big cookouts and fish fries. The irony of the lake is that Thelma never learned how to swim, but that never stopped her from the fun times. Another fond memory was the epic Halloween birthday parties she held. Thelma hosted every year, and the costumes and themes were enjoyed by all.
The last couple of years were a struggle for Thelma as she battled cancer. Though she understood what was happening, she did not let it get her down. She was the constant Mother, still more worried about her children and grandchildren. She took immense pride in the long, beautiful life she had.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kennon Watson and her Parents Delmas and Wynama Sherrod and in-laws Audie and Opal Watson. She is survived by her children, Dolores and Billy Galley, Brenda and Sid Cook, Pam and Jeff Gardner and her Grandchildren Christy Margolis, Melissa Robertson, Larry Burress, Lauren Reavis, Brittani Landy, Codi Bee, Cade Bull and Great Grandchildren, Chad Wilson, Chris Wilson, Blake Margolis, Jarrett Robertson, Kaitlynn Burress, Camden Reavis, Luke Landy, Andi Bee and Adler Bee, Great Great Grandchildren, Jude and Harvey Wilson.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A graveside funeral service will be held for family and close friends on Friday, March 28th at 1:00 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
