

VIOLET MARGARET DEZVANE LEMAK, loving mother, adoring grandmother, dear sister and treasured friend, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 23rd. Vi is survived by her son, John Sandor Lemak, and daughter-in-law, Eleanor Smyly Lemak; her daughter, Kimberley Ann Lemak Harrison, and son-in-law, Jonathan Lee Harrison; and her seven grandchildren, Lacey Elizabeth Lemak, Bailey Ann Lemak, Eleanor Jean Lemak, John Sandor Lemak, Jr., Hayden Sandor Harrison, Brandon Lemak Harrison, and Zsa Zsa Nicole Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Paul Joseph Lemak, and her parents, John Joseph Dezvane and Catherine Braut Dezvane. Born in Croatia, Vi came to the United States as a child. She was raised in New York and always considered herself a New Yorker. After graduating from Queens College, Vi was a fashion accessories buyer in Manhattan sending designer handbags and accessories to stores throughout the United States. With children came her most cherished job, that of mom and nana. In 1973, Vi and Paul moved to Shreveport, LA where they were active members of East Ridge Country Club, playing golf and dancing at parties. In 1999, they moved to Dallas to be near their children and grandchildren. Family was the greatest joy in Vi’s life. She delighted in each school performance, sports game, dinner and holiday celebration she shared with hers. Vi was a member of the Hanover Book Club, Monday Bridge at Campbell Green Recreation Center, the Town North Women’s Club and the International Women’s Club. When Vi was there, there was always laughter. She will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, January 27, at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. Pallbearers to be Leonard Losen, Jr., Kenneth Losen, Terry Holburn, John Deterding, Jr., Tom Wernsman, and Douglas Hayter.
