Ginger was raised in Sunnyvale, Texas. She worked as a seamstress, served as a lunch lady at Sunnyvale Elementary School, and later worked as a receptionist for Dr. Miller’s private practice. She was married to her beloved husband, Cecil Barrett, for 47 years after marrying in 1950. Together they built a life centered on family and faith.
She is survived by her son Rick Barrett and his wife Donna; daughter Sandy McCleary; son Greg Barrett and his wife Gail; and her sister Jo Nell Manley. Ginger was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Barrett; her parents Alvie Lewis and Gertrude Mathis; her brothers Lester, James, WJ, and John Alvin Lewis; her grandson Keith Baxter; and her sisters Winnie Duckworth and Maxine Irvin.
A loving, caring Christian woman and a kind soul, Ginger was a great influence as a mother and grandmother — truly a mom to many. She found joy in simple pleasures: crocheting, playing chicken foot dominoes, baking, listening to music, and cheering for her favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family.
Her warm presence, steady faith, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a large, loving family that will carry forward the values she lived by every day.
