She was born on June 25, 1935, to Alvin and Clara Schulz Bernstein in Albany, TX where she was baptized into the Lutheran faith on June 28, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed in that faith on June 5, 1949. Margie graduated from Albany High School in 1953. She was married on July 2, 1954, to Keith A. Loomans who preceded her in death after 60 years of marriage.
Margie was a devout member of the Lutheran Church, active in worship, prayer, Bible study groups, and service to others. She was a steadfast supporter of her husband, Keith in his Lutheran teaching ministry in Brownsville, Temple, and Mercedes TX, and finally through his Executive Leadership Role at the Texas District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Austin where they moved in 1969 and remained until 2015 when she moved to Dallas to be closer to her daughters. Margie was a wonderful homemaker and a talented seamstress having sewn many beautiful dresses and outfits for her daughters and herself. She also served as a volunteer for Lutheran Braille Workers and Bethesda Resale store where she was a volunteer manager.
To our family she was a marvelous mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always took time to show us her love and attention. She continually encouraged us in the Christian faith and her faithfulness will inspire and guide us forever.
In addition to her husband, Margie was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Clara Bernstein and her sister Geneva Sharrock. She is survived by daughters Kim Tumulty and husband Tim, Laura Loomans, Michaela Ann “Mikie” Loomans; grandchildren Brandy Veihl and husband Jason, Travis Tumulty and wife Megan, Sara Sellers and husband Baine; great-grandchildren Alexis Garrett and husband David, Jason Veihl, Addisyn and Cole Peiser, Franciska and Keith Tumulty, Houston and Bennett Sellers; great-great grandchild Evelyn Garrett; sister Georgie Boyce; sisters-in-law Joan, Eunice, Mary and Jane along with numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Courtyard at Christian Care Center-Mesquite, TX for the care and compassion Margie received during the three years, four months it was her home.
