Virginia Irene Spivey, 78, passed away on November 5, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on November 5, 1947, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to James “Jiggs” Maki and Rosenell Miller. Virginia graduated from Ector High School in Odessa, Texas, in 1966 and completed community college the following year. On July 31, 1967, she married the love of her life, Jerry Ray Spivey, and together they raised two children, Stephanie and Christopher.
Virginia worked as a secretary for most of her life, but her greatest joy came from being Jerry’s devoted wife and “Nana” to her three grandchildren and four bonus grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jiggs” Maki and Rosenell Miller, and by her loving husband, Jerry Ray Spivey.
She is survived by her sister, Glenda Lewis; her daughter, Stephanie Angelo; her son, Christopher Spivey, and his wife, Stephanie; her grandchildren—Christian Spivey, Rylee Angelo, and Kenedy Spivey; and her four bonus grandchildren—Tabbatha Angelo Lenard, Kelsi Davis, Kylie Davis, and Clint Davis.
Known to many as “Ginger,” Virginia was a bright, spirited presence with a joyful personality. She exemplified grace and dedication as a minister’s wife, always valuing order, care, and attention to detail. She will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is celebrating in Heaven, reunited with her beloved Jerry.
