Born on January 25, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to Laura and Charlie Schroeder, Wanda grew up with a warm spirit and a natural gift for connecting with others. She attended Abilene Christian University before beginning her career with Southern Pacific Transportation and later Watkins Motor Lines.
Wanda eventually discovered her true passion when she became self-employed as a manicurist. She found great joy in her work, not only in the craft itself but in the many wonderful people she met along the way. Wanda was a true people person—personable, engaging, and genuinely interested in the lives of others.
She loved spending time outdoors, especially sailing, gardening, and exploring her deep interest in genealogy. Her gardens were a reflection of her caring nature—vibrant, nurturing, and full of life.
Wanda is survived by her son William Phillips and daughter-in-law Deyali Phillips of Allen, Texas; her sister Sandra Brown, brother in law Ronald G. Brown of Dallas; and her beloved grandchildren Preston Phillips and RJ Phillips, also of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her sister Bobby Schroeder, and her parents Lura and Charlie Schroeder, son in-law R.J Smith Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas on December 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
