Warren Kaman, 75 years young, affectionately known to his friends as "Jumbo", passed away Monday, February 26th, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He gallantly and courageously fought pancreatic cancer for over three years. Throughout this challenging time, he continued to live a purposeful life with dignity, and an unshakeable spirit that was truly inspiring to all who knew him. He had enormous love for his family and friends, and they for him.
Warren was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 28, 1948, to Mathilda and Leonard Kaman. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Dallas, Texas. Warren graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1966 and attended the University of Texas in Austin. After college, Warren moved to Houston where he spent the rest of his life. He was a gregarious individual with a keen sense of humor, using unique phraseology which came to be known as "Jumboisms".
Warren had remarkable recall. He was "Google" before there was "Google". He could remember song lyrics, actors and their roles, no matter how obscure. Everyone knew he could be their "phone a friend" if the need arose.
He thoroughly enjoyed a good game of poker, an ice-cold beer, and a "lawsuit hot" bowl of soup.
Preceded in death by his parents, Warren is survived by his brother, Mark (Sandy) Kaman, nephews Daniel (Abby), Adam (Michelle) and great nieces and nephews: Leorah, Arie, Shira, Oliver, Rikki, Luka, and Shneur Kaman. He is also survived by his aunt, Natalie Berman, and cousin Jonathan (Andrea) Berman, and a host of friends who felt like family.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate and exemplary care Warren received from Dr. Robert Wolff and his staff at M.D. Anderson.
"Jumbo" had a fun- loving nature and lived his life with gusto. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He's truly unforgettable!
