

He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and was an officer in the U.S. Navy, before receiving his master’s from Cornell University. After receiving his MBA, Roy moved to Dallas, Texas, to work for Texas Instruments.
During his time as a well-respected human resources vice president, Roy traveled extensively setting up plants in Europe and South America. He lived in Tokyo and Singapore for four years, before returning to Dallas, where he met and married the love of his life, Rebecca. After taking early retirement in the 1990s, Roy started his own consulting firm before opening the Dallas office for ORC Worldwide in the mid-1990s. He retired from ORC Worldwide in 2010.
In addition to his professional career, Roy was an active volunteer in the Dallas community. He served on the board at St. Paul’s Hospital, LaunchAbility and Fairhill School, in addition to countless volunteer hours at his daughters’ schools throughout the years.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca Pendergrass; his children, Laura and Emily Pendergrass; and his sister, Ann Chipman.
Roy passed away suddenly on March 10, 2021, at the age of 82. The memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church in the Ellis Chapel at 1:00pm Friday, March 19, 2021, with a reception to follow.
