

Willie B Davis, Sr. (aka Pops, Daddy, GPaw, Gooba) was born June 20, 1939 in Huntsville, Texas (Walker County) to the late Wash Davis and Margarette Butler. He attended school in Riverside, Texas, and he confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
Willie moved to Dallas, Texas in 1954 at the age of 15. He retired as a Utility Mechanic from Hertz Truck Rental, and was later employed by Rawlins Truck Leasing.
He enjoyed sharing stories about his childhood and adult experiences, and what it taught him. He also loved to cook and draw caricatures.
In 1986, Willie rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized by the late Reverend C.D. Knight. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Lelious Johnson, where he was actively involved with the Outreach Ministry until his health began to fail.
Willie peacefully transitioned into a new life on August 15, 2020 @ 5:10 p.m. He is preceded in death by both parents, Wash Davis and Margarette Butler; his sisters, Dorothy (Dossie Mae) Terrell and Ossie Mae Davis, and his brother-in-law, R.C. Davis.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife of 46 years, Lee Atrice Davis; his children, Mendel, Vickie, Darryl, Rickie, Renee, Tonya, Willie, Jr., and Shashi; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
