

Willie Joe (“Joe”) Smock, age 88, of De Soto, Texas passed away November 23, 2018 in De Soto, Texas. Joe was born on April 13, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Willie Buster Smock and Dorice Mayo. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a welder by trade. Joe was a member of New Life Ministries Church in Waxahachie, Texas. He was a devoted father to his children, grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fan at the local soccer and baseball games and was also a vocal fan as well.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sue Smock, son Jody Smock and daughter-in-law Shannon Smock; daughter Sharon Hanks and son-in-law Troy Hanks; grandchildren Kelly Cardwell and husband Aaron Cardwell, Sean Smock and wife Caroline Smock; great-grandchildren Ava Cardwell, Hudson Cardwell, Campbell Cardwell, Holden Smock and Cooper Smock, and adopted into the family from Honduras, Rosita Rosenberger and husband Jason Rosenberger. Joe is also survived by siblings Pat Jones, Peggy Wright, Carolyn Kelley, Glenda Waits, Delia Brock, Buckey Smock, Dorothy Eudy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by parents Willie Buster Smock and Dorice Flatt and step-parents Orbie Flatt Sr. and Johnnie Smock; and siblings Jean Underwood, Orbie Flatt Jr., Reggy Wright and Jamie Smock.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018. Services to celebrate his life at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 with interment following. These will all be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 S. R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232.
