Zell Hollweg, 100, of Dallas died on April 17, 2012 at the C.C. Young Nursing Home after a long and wonderful life. She was preceded in death by William Hollweg her beloved husband and dance partner of over 65 years. She is survived by her 3 children (Elizabeth Rivera, W.B. Hollweg and Lewis Hollweg and wife Barbara), 3 grandchildren ( Libby Dawson and husband Cliff, Tad Rivera and wife Dawn and Ashley Hollweg Watson and husband Steve), and 4 great grandchildren ( Anastasia Dawson, Grisha Dawson, Elise Watson and Carson Watson) and her sister, Eloise Patterson. Zell was born on October 5, 1911 in Crowell, Texas to Robert Lewis and Sally Elizabeth Hatcher Saunders, grew up in Childress, Texas and resided in Dallas and Little Rock. She was a strong west Texas woman through and through and her life was exemplified by the courage of her convictions and her faith. In her family she was seen as a role model matriarch who embraced and sheltered all those who needed it and also dispensed direct and sage advice when she felt it was needed. A long time member of the United Methodist Church, she was the first woman on the Lovers Lane Methodist Church Board of Directors in Dallas and she kept the financial records for C.C Young Retirement Home. Throughout her life she was involved in church activities and her children’s school functions and rarely turned down anyone who needed her help. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Spark/Hillcrest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, Tx., with Rev. Don Benton officiating. A private family entombment is scheduled for another time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to C.C. Young or Lovers Lane Methodist Church.
