

He was born in New York, NY and grew up in Monroe, CT. Albert raised his family in Newtown, CT and retired to Lakeland, FL with his wife Shirley.
Albert was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. Upon learning the 82nd would not be deployed to Korea he volunteered to go to Korea as a foot soldier where he proudly served until being wounded in action. Albert was awarded the Bronze Star.
During his working years he was a self-employed builder who designed and built many homes and additions in Fairfield and Litchfield County. He was a highly skilled carpenter who enjoyed his work.
Throughout his life he was very active and enjoyed snow skiing, swimming, ice skating, hiking, biking, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed traveling and loved music and nature. The White Mountains of New Hampshire was his happy place, and he loved the annual trips he took with family. Albert was a true animal lover and loved all animals, especially his dog Mufasa.
Albert is survived by his daughter Debra Gerke (Burton), daughter Ollie Calhoun, daughter Frances Alesi (James), Grandchildren William Lancey III, Gary Capozziello Jr, Teresa Bicking, Lisa Lancey, Matthew Alesi (Kerryn), Jessica Figueroa, Joshua Figueroa, Burton Gerke IV, David Gerke, John Figueroa, several great grandchildren and dearest friend Sherilyn Wilkinson.
He was preceded in death by wife Shirley, parents George and Frances, daughter Sylvia Lancey, grandson Jamie Calhoun, brothers George and John, sister Anita, and beloved dog Mufasa.
The family will receive friends at a celebration of life to take place at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT on Saturday, April 26th from 1:00 to 3:00pm. A prayer service will be offered at 2:30pm followed by the presentation of military honors.
