Anna was an accomplished artist. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a major in Advertising Design and later studied painting in Mexico. Her career in retail advertisingas a fashion illustrator and lay out artist spanned 45 years in N.Y and San Francisco. Outside of work she always painted. She worked in oils and pastels. She won Best in Show at the 2004 Marin County Fair in California as well as at the Society for CreativeArtists in Newtown, CT in 2019. She also won 1st, 2nd and Honorable Mention awards at other juried shows. Her works are in private collections in CT, NJ and CA. She had a one woman show in Tiberon, CA and another at Hancock Hall inDanbury, CT.
She loved to travel and in the early 1960s, she and her friend Ginger boarded the SS Rotterdam in NY and had a long, memorable trip, travelling throughout Europe. Sheand her sister, Rita, enjoyed several trips together. They were sometimes mistaken as nuns because when they traveled, they wore crosses around their necks. When asked “Are you two Sisters?” they could honestly answer “Yes”. In the 1970s, Anna took her 80year old mother to visit relatives in Italy and to see Greece. Her mother, who was born in Italy, marveled that everyone spoke such good Italian!
She loved to walk in nature, and if you were lucky enough to have walked with her, you learned about color and how to see like an artist. She would point out the vividcolors that she saw in the grasses, flowers, trees or sky. She loved God. She said that painting was a creative expression that made her feel connected to and close with God. She was a lector at her church, St. Isabella, in San Rafael, CA.
She loved food and being an artist, the food that she ate was not only healthy and delicious, but also beautiful to behold. A visit with her would leave you feelingsatisfied and in better health than were before you arrived.
Anna was a good friend and there were many over the years who called on her for company, friendship and support. She will be missed by her friends at Rotary Valley SeniorVillage in Marin, CA and especially by dear friends Ginger, Diana, Marcy and Curtis.
