

Armando was born in Ludlow, MA, a son of the late Francisco and Anna Goncalves de Sousa. He moved to Monteiros, Portugal at a young age and attended schools there; he served in the Portugese military.
A carpenter in Portugal for 20 years before returning to the United States in 1963, Armando joined his brother’s construction company upon his return. He was formerly with Hubbell Plastic Mouldings of Newtown and Mesinger Manufacturing Co. of Bethel, retiring in 1978. A member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Danbury, he was also an avid accordion player.
Armando was predeceased by his siblings: Florinda Machado, Jose de Sousa, Sr., Maria Rodrigues, Pedro de Sousa, Adelia Silva and Engracia Ribeiro.
Besides his wife of 50 years, his family includes his daughter, Anna Sousa and her husband, Antonio, of Bethel. His granddaughters: Dellamarie Pereira and her husband, Andre, and Emily Sousa. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11am at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received on Tuesday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
