Barbara Ann McKenna

Barbara A. McKenna, age 74 of New Fairfield, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 7, 2021 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Laurence J. McKenna. Barbara was born October 31, 1946 in the Bronx, NY to the late William Roy and Marie Morrissey. Barbara graduated from Danbury High School and worked for Danbury Savings and Loan. She moved to New Fairfield in 1974 and worked as a paraprofessional at Consolidated School teaching sign language and special education.

Barbara is survived by a daughter Laurie Maxwell of Danbury; a son Kevin McKenna of New Fairfield; two brothers, John Roy of New Fairfield and William Roy of Southbury; several nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. Barbara was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend. She was a selfless, giving lady with a warm heart and sunny spirit whose beautiful smile brightened the lives of all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street, Danbury on Wednesday October 13th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 14th at 10:30am at St. Edwards the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Danbury.
