
Benjamin was the son of the late Morris H. and Besse Balaban. He was a graduate of Bassick High School, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Benjamin received his BS in Industrial Design from the University of Bridgeport, 1962. Benjamin served in the U.S. Army Reserve, 1962-1970.
For 30 years Benjamin's innate industrial design skills leveraged corporations in the trade show event industry including a slew of legacy brands like General Electric, 20th Century Fox, and Cadbury Schweppes, Inc. His decades of exhibiting acumen created opportunities for world travel which also inspired his designs. In his later years Benjamin showcased his prized Jaguar at car shows throughout Connecticut and New York which brought him great delight in meeting other car enthusiasts over the years. As in his professional life Benjamin also collected many awards for his 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas Majestic .
He is survived by his former wife, Patricia Kapsinow and their children: son, Lawrence Balaban of Danbury,CT; daughter, Wendy (Craig) Chard, of Newtown, CT; grandchildren, his two heroes: Spencer, and Renee; former wife, Elizabeth Sciarra; cherished brother of; Roseanne Dunn, of Randallstown, Maryland and the late Elaine Lew; niece, Alice Dunn, of Randallstown, Maryland; nephews: Michael Dunn of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Stan Dunn of Troy, New York.
A private service is being held by the immediate family.
