

Bento was born in Azores, Portugal, son of the late Francisco and Maria Simoes. He immigrated to the United States with his wife and children in 1967. Over the years Bento worked in a Hat Factory, Hilario Construction, Viking Wire and retired from Glen Hill Convalescent Center.
Bento is survived by his brother, Herman Simao of Danbury; and sisters: Hirminia Furtado of Danbury and Maria Fernandes of Canada. His children: John Simao (Theresa) of Brewster; Marie Adkin (Glenn) of Jupiter FL; Herman Simoes of New Milford; and Joseph Simoes of Danbury. His grandchildren: Ryan Adkin (Melissa), Kendall Adkin, Zack Simao (Megan), Mike Simao, great grandchildren; Aiden, Braiden, Xander, Zayn, Layla, Mason and Liam. He is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews in the United States, Canada and Portugal.
Bento was predeceased by his sons: Jose Carlos, Serafim and Hirminio as well as 8 siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Hospital for the care and compassion provided to Bento and the family in the final few days he was with us.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received from 9:00am to 10:30am on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
Those attending are requested to wear a mask at all services.
