Bertha Roberts

Bertha (Liggins) Roberts, youngest daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Harrison Liggins, Sr. and Mrs. Bertha Mosley Liggins, was born August 24, 1929 in New York, New York. She departed this life on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 1:04PM at the Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT after a long illness.

She was raised in Greenburgh, New York, where she attended schools through the Greenburgh public school system. Bertha lived in Elmsford, New York, Mt. Vernon, NY and then later migrated to Danbury, CT where she resided until her death.

She worked in various capacities as a hotel housekeeper, dry cleaning operator, office cleaner, machine operator to name a few. Bertha who was affectionately known as Sis in her younger years by her parents and siblings, loved sewing, cooking, watching television in her spare time and attending church until she took ill.

She is pre-deceased by her brother Thomas H. Liggins, Jr., her sister Josephine Alston, her son Spencer Snipes, her son Alfred C. Snipes, her daughter Diane D. Snipes and her granddaughter Nicole Snipes. Bertha leaves to mourn her loss, her daughter Sherrie Snipes of Tarrytown, NY, her son Arthur Snipes of Henderson, NV, her daughter Marcella (Sylvester) Anderson of Danbury, CT and her son Craig Harris of Katy, TX; 11 grandchildren: Stephney (Jane) Tucker III, Penelope Hilliard-Snipes, Anthony (Andrea) Snipes, Todd Tucker, Hance Harmon, Jr., Menjiwe (Timothy) Carey, Tanyel (Michael) Maberry, Y’na (Marcus) Evans, Marques (Sara) Anderson, Alexander Snipes and Charles Anderson; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of church family.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at the Victory Christian Center, 23 Eden Dr., Danbury. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Saturday, Feb 13, 2016 at the church.

Interment will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
